Nudists continue San Onofre battle

Now there is a fight between the nudists attempting to avoid citation and arrest on state land (San Onofre State Beach) and federal land (Camp Pendleton) and state park rangers and the U.S. Marine Corp. They say this one may end up in court. Nudists claim park rangers are playing peepers in the tall grass. Geeze Louise, why not just designate a legal area where nudists may have access to the beach just like every other taxpaying citizen?

Canada's Topless Movement - 20 years later

Women can legally go topless in Canada and, for that mater, in the state of New York and in Austin, Tx in the U.S. The reason this is possible is because of women pioneers like Gwen Jacob who fought against the double standard laws of Canada making it ok for men to be topless but not women. In the piece below Gwen explains that while it is now legal to go topless, most women won't. Why? Because they are harassed if they do. Our laws may have changed but the Puritan ethic still maintains a stranglehold on our culture.

German nudist members dwindling

Germany, the birthplace of the modern nudist movement, is suffering from a dwindling number of nudists. This article cites mostly immigration of non-nudist people into the country as the primary cause. It seems the author couldn't resist though, tying the reduction in nudists to the fact that everyone is chubbier these days. They seem to miss the whole point of nudism as that of accepting human body for what it is, not as what some fashion editor in Paris, New York, or Italy dictates though size zero fashions.

One woman's journey to body freedom

Kerry Hiatt, writing in the UK MailOnline, explains her journey from body shame and self-conciousness to total body freedom in a great article. She explains the feelings she went through in accepting the nudist lifestyle from a totally self-concious woman ashamed of her body to embracing the freedom that social nudism inevitably brings. She says it even helped revive her marriage.

Canadian anti-nudity law challenged today

Brian Coldin goes to court today to challenge the anti-nudity law in Canada. Coldin was charged with several public nudity charges. He appeared at an A&W drive-in nude in his car and upset the attendant within. While this isn't the way I'd go about setting up a legal challenge, this case may have some good impact on Canadian law if he wins.

Nude beach lurkers

Before cell phones and ubiquitous cameras became available to everyone it used to be easy to pick out sleazy lurkers at a nude beach. They'd be the ones who didn't get nude, hid in the dunes or paraded back and forth with a camera. They often got a warning or their film exposed by beach regulars. Today the problem is much different as this story about one of the U.S.'s best nude beaches, Gunnison in New Jersey, relates.
